Rather using another SafeSoftware FME Data Interoperability Extension component, you have to perform a Quick Import that will convert the data in the MIFMID file into an Esri File GeoDatabase, also Personal GeoDatabase (but Id avoid that format). This tool uses JavaScript and much of it will not work correctly without it enabled. All Places GIS Discussions Log in to create and rate content, and to follow, bookmark, and share content with other members.

To enable the Data Interoperability extension in ArcGIS for Desktop applications you must first authorize it with a valid license. Single use Single-use installations of ArcGIS for Desktop require an authorization file. If your ArcGIS for Desktop Single Use installation is not licensed to use the Data Interoperability extension, you can obtain an authorization file at the Esri Customer Care website. After you receive your authorization file, open ArcGIS Administrator. Click Authorize Now, choose the option I have received an authorization file from Esri and am now ready to finish the registration process, click Next, then click Browse to locate your saved provisioning (.prvc) file. Concurrent use ArcGIS for Desktop Concurrent Use installations borrow a license from your license manager. If all licenses for the extension are currently in use by other users, you will not be able to use the extension until a license becomes available. Enabling the extension in ArcGIS for Desktop After the Data Interoperability extension is installed and authorized, you can enable the extension for each application in the ArcGIS for Desktop suite in which you intend to use it. To enable the extension, start ArcCatalog, ArcMap, ArcScene, or ArcGlobe; click Customize Extensions in the main menu; then check Data Interoperability. LIkely it needs to be installed on the system you are working at. The installer is on your Esri DVD media, or you can access the DVD as ISO from Customer Care portal. Also just the Data Interoperability extension is available as a 396 MB download titled ArcGIS Data Interoperability for Desktop from both the Customer Care portal or the ArcGIS for Desktop free trial site-- Use your Esri global account to log in. I am uninstalling all them right now so as to retry new issues. Like Show 0 Likes 0 Actions K1064241 Mar 19, 2013 2:42 PM Hi guys, thanks for the prompt replies. I have now got the extension up and running, it was a separate install that just took a bit of browsing. However, how can I add the.mif format into the FME reader gallery I have a few.mif files that I thought would be fairly easy to convert in catalogue, but by the looks of it, I may be better undertaking the conversion in MapInfo first Thoughts would be welcome.
